ANALOGUE

Zofia

This project is a photographic portrait of Zofia Pociłowska-Kann, a Polish sculptor, portraitist, conservator, poet, and WWII resistance fighter. At the time of our meetings, she was losing her sight and too weak to stand at her studio table or sculpt any longer. Through our conversations and photographs, I explored the fragile moment of transition – the twilight years when an artist is confronted with the impossibility of creating. The work reflects on what it means to be an artist, and how identity shifts when the act of making is no longer possible.
